Try kellyco, i've had good luck with them! They also seem to ship pretty quick.

Have you tried garrett.com and try to find a dealer in your area.

Do you want all the "free accessories", or any accessories, or do you just want the machine?

Just bought the ace-250 from kellyco last month. Got my detector about 5 days after placing the order. Ive got no complaints and would use them again on any future purchases.

To digger 27, since I am new to the hobby I wanted to get more than just the detector, but I have been searching and the prices are just out of my range. I had hoped to spend $100 to at the most $150. The cheapest new 250 unit I have found starts at $212 and that is just the detector, no extras. I have been unemployed for a while so even paying $100 - $150 cuts deeply into my finances. The idea with buying a machine is that it would pay itself off in the finds I make, and more + good exercise and good people to be around.
I hesitate to buy a used detector because, well.. you just don't know what the machine has been through. I can't afford to buy a detector that "has problems" that would absolutely sink me.

I am getting very discouraged

Don't fall for the extras for cheap, there just that... Just get the 250 and go to lowes and get a 77 cent nail pouch and an ames 7 in 1 garden trowel for 10 bucks or so. I have never used a pin pointer... I find it slows me down.

Read the private message, take the advice from a guy that has sold millions of dollars worth of products, retail, in the last 25 years.
I know how the game is played.
If you want some info on the Compadre, which would have been my first choice if I was on a small budget and I was starting all over again, go to youtube and search for NESWIPER.
Watch the first 15 videos or so and notice how he learns and progresses with this unit.
Do a search on this forum and others for Tabdog.
He has used several but he also uses this.
If you get half as good as he is and others are with this little machine, you will eventually find enough to pay for any detector you want.
Especially considering where you live, and potentially what you could find in an area as old as Delaware.
Talk to the people I advise, watch the videos, read the forums, take the time to save up a few more dollars if necessary, but most of all, don't get discouraged!
You have plenty of time to grow into, and with, this hobby.

"You will never find time for anything. If you want time, you must make it".

Digger I haven't recieved your private message yet, but what you said makes sense. I will take another look at the Tesoro. I have watched a few of neswipers videos on youtube. I'll watch them all and read all of Tapdogs posts too. Good advice, thank you!

As mentioned the Compadre is a great performer. There is also a White's Coinmaster, a Fisher F2 and a Teknetics Alpha 2000 for $200.00 and less. You can get a Ace 150 brand new for $152.95

You probably already know this but in case you don't, you have to be logged into the forum in order for your pm's to show up.
