Cans are BIG, and give a BIG signal.
The only way you'd discrim one of those, is to turn your machine off. ![]() In my opinion, the only thing you should try to discrim, are small pieces of iron. P.S. Welcome to the forum, from the UK __________________ |

would a numerical id give an indication that it was a can and not a walking liberty?

![]() Seriously though, discrimination and sensitivity should be used with care. Visual IDs should be thought of as an aid, as there are so many variables to take into account. We need to know what machine you are using, and the type of ground you are searching. __________________ |

curently using a teknetics alpha but have a teknetics delta 4000 on the way
Hunting in Terre Haute, Indiana. I have found some pretty cool stuff in my own yard and even found the bosses wedding ring a few days ago after being lost for 4 years. I deffinitly prefer to hunt in all metal mode... oh but sometimes it sounds like there is money everywhere! even with sensitivity turned all the way down. PS: My name is Alan also

I agree...the shear size of them makes it nearly impossible to discriminate. If you notice when you scan over one, it gives very mixed signals that bounce between good and bad target signals. An easy way to self discriminate them is to realize that good coin targets don't bounce around like that and when you pinpoint you will recognize that the size is simply too big. Hope that helps.

I currently use a Bounty Hunter....loves aluminum!
A trick I finally learned is if I lift the coil high off the ground and still get a strong signal, (5-6 inches or more), and/or it seems huge...it's gonna be a cache or a can! Score so far...cans 100%....caches 0% HH __________________ |
