Default Any thoughts on map dowsing??

Hello all,

Just curious as to what your personal experiences with this subject have been and would love to hear your insight.

Based on the old principal of water dowsing or "witching" people are using instruments of divination to find the location of treasure in all its forms simply by using a map. This can be a printed map or a map showing on your computer screen.

I have done a lot of research in this and other methods recently and have done some experimentation. I realize to some it may appear as though I have gone pretty far "south" of the norm by trying to utilize some of these controversial methods.

I am just trying to keep an open mind and if possible will use any means at my disposal in aide to my continued searches for treasure.

The results as experienced by myself are tangible and so I continue my search. Which is why I now call apon your collective experience and knowledge gained to provide further insight.

Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated. Don't worry about offending, I have an open mind and a good sense of humor.

Safe travels,
Monolyth

Please don't start again....or I'll lock this thread. Monolyth, use the search function. There was a thread about this barely a week ago....you'll find your answer there.

My apologies, I did not realize this was a sensitive subject here or maybe just for you in particular. I did not know this was discussed here a week ago as I do not read the forums every day and I did not participate in the last discussion nor am I trying to stir things up.

Thank you for referring me to the thread. I found it, read it and found it to be most informative.

I have notice in the time I do spend on the forums that the same topics come up again and again but none of them to my knowledge have been threatened to be "locked down" ????

I come to the forums as I always do, to share a story, help answer someones question, give encouragement or advice, welcome new members, or ask a question of my own. Which is simply what I did by starting this thread.

If this is a problem area (this particular topic) please include it in the FAQ section as something that is not allowed so that others do not run into this stumbling block as I have.

Regards,
Monolyth

No fault of yours. Just that in my opinion that previous thread was close to becoming a flamewar, as some other earlier threads on same subject.

And yes, my views about this subject are clear but as this is family friendly forum I shall not utter them here. Threat of locking down was my idea only and dunno if other mods would have agreed with it. I'd prefer the discussion to be about known working methods for detecting metal, even though such discussions sometimes are repetitive.

I respect your views and can only imagine what those uttered words would be, lol

I brought this up in the general forum as there is not an assigned section for this. It does relate to mding in the way that many use it. I myself will dowse a map of an area that I have already historically researched and am interested in to go detecting. I mark spots off with gps coords and will search those areas along with any other areas I think may contain good finds at these locations.

If this thread does continue and it does in fact become a flamewar I respect your decision as moderator to shut it down. That is your job and I appreciate the work into this site to maintain its friendly status and open nature.

Regards,
Monolyth
