This has become my favorite detector. I've owned many types and have to say this Cibola is exactly what I want in a machine. Thing runs smooth, has good depth. I don't really think it's deeper than some of the other good detectors I've had, it's just that the Ciblola recovers so fast and has a tone that is easy to translate after you've listened to it for a day or so.
I live in northeast Massachusetts and do not have bad soil issues for the most part. Usually I can set the sensitivity to max and find coins down to an honest 7-8 inches. This machine is light, inexpensive, and easy to run. Mostly it is predictable with no bad habits to date. It's the best machine for my purposes. Anyone else run a Ciblola? And what have you found about the machine you like or dislike? Thanks, Jennings |

I have the Vaquero and it is just amazing. I like the Vaquero so much that a big brown truck will be dropping off a DeLeon and a few coils tomorrow. Now i just have to save up some money for the Tejon and im all set.

I've been running a Cibola since Christmas. And while I find at times I am jealous of DH's display on the X305, I generally out-find him by a bit. That may be because I dig more hits (since I can't tell as easily if it is canslaw or tabs without a display), or because the Cibola is better, or what. I generally run the stock 9x8, though I did recently get the 5.75 concentric for trashy areas. I have not run it much, so I cannot really tell if I like it or not. It seems a lot shallower than the stock 9x8. Maybe I need to have it tuned to my Cibola by the factory??

Monkeywrangler2: (great name) I think going to a smaller coil usually means losing some depth. I know my smaller coils all reflect this. I think their only advantage is not "seeing" so much junk and trash at one time and getting buggered up. You can isolate on good targets more easily.
I use the stock oval coil and have become accustom to it. I get very good depth on coin-size objects. The Cibola does not really disc out aluminum as well as other detectors I've used but this is one reason I bought it. This love of aluminum translates into good small gold and silver sensitivity. I found a tiny 14K earring yesterday at 6 inches that I'm sure I would have missed with my old White's Classic III. I run the Cibola a little above the Iron setting and well below nickels. I max everything else if I can, and usually I get away with it. Then I simply learned its sounds. In time I've come to be able to discern most junk from coins and such. It does take time. In the past I've used VDI machines and came to not trust the readouts. Half the times they were wrong. I honestly think I can use my own mental computer and sort sounds better than all the VDIs I've owned in the past. Plus I'm not constantly looking at a meter and slowing down because of it. That said, I still dig junk. If only I could send my brain out to Tesoro for a tuneup. A recalibration. Jennings |

Jennings, I tend to run my Cibola just below nickle, and threshold around 2 oclock, sens=8, and that lets me avoid some of the iron trash in the totlots I tend to favor. I suppose I will just have to run the small coil some more to learn how it works and to get used to covering so much less ground! That small coil really slows down my fwd progress!
