Default Anyone had this happen?

The past couple of days I have been heavily researching a certain plot of land where an airfield with two unpaved runways stood from sometime in the 40's up until the mid 60's. Checking the newest aerial maps I had, the land was never re-developed after the airfield was shut down. I decided to drive out this morning and hunt it - only to discover several bulldozers tearing up the earth. They had just started - id say a few days ago the earth was unturned. For some reason I wanted very badly to get out and start lobbing rocks at them.

Has anyone ever had this happen?

If they haven't gone too deep and they will let you give it a go.. they may just be turning up some real old deep stuff

we went to a school being demolished this spring the other day. a friend that lives nearby said it was still open. later that day we got there to hunt and it was surrounded by a fence with no tresspassing signs. they put them up only maybe an hour before we got there.

Stop and talk to them or a supervisor. See if you can come at off hours and still detect. Offer to follow all of the sites safety rules, wearing a hard hat, etc. Find out where they are taking or what they are doing with the soil.

I have found plenty of nice items in the piles of dirt they make or from the piles they go dump in some farmers field. Most of the time I can get permission to work the construction site on off hours. Sometimes not though, just thought I would mention it.

Default No.....

But I have a similar situation. There is a walking path around a HUGE field. It was a mowed path last Summer and last Fall they were digging it up to depth of about 4 -6 inches. Looks like they may be putting down geo-textile ? and then crush stone. I'll have to act quickly to walk it with the detector. There used to be a hotel and 18 hole golf course with speedway at this location over a 100 years ago.
Will be asking permission this coming week.
Better luck to you on your next location.
Marty

Default I'll guess bracelet...

Although it could have bound some rolled papers. Doesn't look like a very good way to link a bracelet.
