....for about an hour &found 43 cents in clad, an Arizona Jeans Co. button, a jacket zipper, a small rock like thing that looks like it may be melted copper(some spots are the rosy color of copper),a spent bullet , a spigot knob, & a ring(too bad it gold plated(no markings on it though)) There wasn't much trash today...I guess I've jsut about collected it all

The way the weather's been here in North Texas as of late, I think you had a good day.

Regarding your husband's snuff habit, I'm trying to work a deal with my wife that if I give up or severely cut back on a vice or two of mine, I can swing a new metal detector for myself (so I don't have to live vicariously through my son). Sadly, I think if I quit drinking beer I should be able to afford an E-Trac fairly quickly!

It's hard, I quit smoking when I had my accident. It's been about 3 weeks and I'm still craving it! Good luck to whoever tries to quit tobacco!

Nice hunt Sue. I hope your hubby can quit... before the bad things about snuff start. It is never easy to quit, but determination will win out over chemical addiction. I quit smoking about thirty years ago... however, I still have a calabash pipe I used to really like. If the doctor ever tells me I have X weeks or months to live, I will fire that baby up and smoke it til the end. RickO

Glad you were able to get out and about! It's almost 50 degrees today, which is a temperature I'm happy to hunt in. The problem is, there are feet of snow covering the ground!

What sort of signal did the ring give you? Like someone else said, a ring is a ring! I get excited about any ring I dig up, whatever metal it is!

Congtrats on the ring Suelue. That clad ads up too. I have already covered the bottom of my treasure box since the first of the year. HH

It sounded like a nickle....and was out in the middle of a field at a school yard....the kids aren't allowed to go back that far anymore....atleast not since the early 90s.....it was about 4 inches down

Good digs!
The ring is a good find. I always like digging them no matter what they are.
Tell your man I wish him luck on quiting. That niccotine is a brat to quit.
It`s not uncommon to feel physically ill for days after but it gets easier.

I wish I could see the detail on the ring better! If it sounded like a nickel, gold can certainly be in the nickel range. I've found gold rings that rang up in the nickel range. Does the ring look solidly gold? Does it still look untarnished from being in the ground? (Higher carat gold will generally stay shiny, whilst lower carat gold might be a bit tarnished.) Can you see any other colour underneath where it might be worn or chipped? Just because it doesn't have a hallmark doesn't mean that it isn't necessarily gold. I'd be so happy for you if it is gold after all!

Yep....I know that is a LOT..even the cashiers at the tobacco shop were shocked when they found out 3 rolls only last a week....I'm VERY proud of him though....it's really tough on ALL of us.....what with the "Nicotine Meannies" coming out
