I need some help. I may be looking for a detector that does not exist. But, I am assured that someone can give me some guidance in finding a Metal Detector that will best suit my needs. I want to find the best all around Metal Detector on the market. I won't say price isn't an issue but, I want to start out with one that I can use for many years, so price isn't as important to me as versitility, reliability, and durability. I would rather pay more now than buy a cheaper model and wish I had a better one a year or two down the road. I hpe someone can help me find the best Metal Detector, for my needs. I live on deep sand and occasionally go to the mountains and the coast. I want one that works great in all kinds of environments. , but even more important is being able to find "The Good Stuff", without digging a lot of holes. That being said, I guess the features:
I really want are: Deep Search (sand dirt, and rock). Accuracy. Being able to somewhat tell if it is worth digging up. At least water resistant. Speaker and Head Phone set up. Durability. Simple to use and to read. If I find the right Detector, price is not as big an issue as just going out and buying one I know nothing about. I appreciate your help in advance. If ssomeone can help me find th "BEST" Detector formy needs I would really appreciate it. My E-Mail address is: captainstevesmith21@yahoo.com Thanks in Advance; Steve Smith

your going to dig ALOT of holes no matter if you spend a 100 or 10,000 , nature of the beast my friend. theres alot of good all around detectors and then theres ones that are going to do each of your categories better in some and worse in others. the mxt, dfx isnt bad, any of the high end models will work, theres a learning curve to all. I use the tesoro vaquero

One of the best all-around detectors, and king of versatility, is the White's DFX. Right now you can get a good used one for around $500-$600.
