Default January Finds

I was able to get out a few days this January when the ground wasn't frozen. All the clad was found between two local parks which I think date back to the 1950's. $2.28 total. The token was found in my backyard about at about 6 inches....I really thought I had something here.

Most of the rusty metal was found out in the farm fields on a relatives property. There were a few houses that sat back there in the late 1800's and were all destroyed by a tornado in the early 1900's. There is still a foundation showing, but it's on a neighbors property so I'm attempting to get permission to hunt it. What is also interesting about this place is that there used to be an Indian settlement in these fields. My relatives, as kids, collected a large amount arrowheads, axes, pottery, etc. Good time for looking they say is after the farmers would disc the fields turning up a good amount of soil and after a good rain. I will try to get some pictures of their collections. While I was swinging in the field, my eye caught something sticking out of the ground. Not sure if its an arrowhead or some sort of chipping tool....or just a triangular shaped rock.

4 bullets
I think the end of a old toy top
2 tags - one says "dept of conservation". I think its maybe a deer tag?
1 tootsie toy car grill

WOW...I need to find an Aladin's Castle Token for myself. I think that's your best find.

Wow great finds! The piece you found is definently "worked" I can't tell the size by the picture but it looks like a scraping tool (like to scrape a hide) of some sort. I've had quite abit of exp finding arrowheads and various tools here in southern Wisconsin myself. WTG!!!

Yea, I think its just a modern button....rung in a solid dime at about 2 inches.

Here is another picture of the tool in my hand for size reference. I gave it a bath as well.

The stone looks like white flint and appears to have been worked.. It may have broken off a larger piece. Nice finds...RickO

I hope you get permission to hunt the neighbor place. Sounds like
an ideal hunting ground, indians, tornadoes, the works.

That round "clock like" hardware under the larger coca cola bottle cap-
I found one just like that but larger and made of copper. Do you
know what those are?

I was thinking that it was half of an old toy yo-yo, or maybe part of a toy top. It has a string that is attached to one end. There is also some wording on one side but I am unable to read it. Maybe I'll attempt to clean it up some more and see what it says. Here is a closer front and back image.

Default Sweet digs !

That's an interesting pile of "stuff" ! Looks like half of a Cadillac hood emblem in the lower right. The Yo-Yo looking thing appears to me as the inner workings of a small recoil mechanism from a pull starter type thingy. Chainsaw or early string trimmer ? I have a few Aladdins game tokens from way back when I played games at a few locations.
Thanks for sharing.
Marty
P.S. Just looked back at the piece with the string. It sure is small. But, it does have the features of a recoil mech.. Looks like the steel strip which acts as a spring would catch in the hole and the string looks very much the type I'd expect to find. Hmmmmm ? It's the size that gets me.

Default Another observation...

The white plastic looking remains are likely where the string would wrap around. Like a pulley or a sheave. (SP?)
