I have a Fisher CZ7 with a 8" spider coil. I'm interested in getting a 5" coil. But the coils come in a 3' and a 7' length. I'm sure the 3' length of cable would be just fine, but why would you want a 7' cable from the MD unit to the coil?

You might maybe want to hip mount the unit and then have the extra for the length that way. Or you might want to mount the unit to your ATV and then have enough to mount the coil to the back of it, or drag one of your kids with it mounted to him or her. LOL. It's an option for hip mounting I believe. Hope it helped.

My surfmaster PI has a long cable for hip-mounting.
