Default Tesoro question

I think the Cutlass and the Silver are the same with the discrimination on the right on the Cutlass and on the left on the Silver. I like the toggle battery test on the Silver but can you thumb the discrimination on the left easily?

With a little practice it is not hard.

Amazing how similar the two machines are. I swing left handed so no problems here. You could hunt in All Metal and flip switch to disc...

I never had any problems when I used those machines.

Looks old, you'd think they put an LED or something on it.

I'm still waiting for my Cutlass II uMax to arrive. It will be here tomorrow I'm sure.

I've had my ear to the ground on this and I've got a feeling the Cutlass may be a little better than the Silver but that's yet to see.

The Silver uMax is a replacement for the Cutlass II uMax but the Silver is a whole new design. I haven't read where Tesoro claimed the Silver's signal boost range can increase the depth by several inches like Tesoro claimed for the signal boost (MAXboost) on the Cutlass. Hum, that makes me wonder. I wonder if Tesoro dropped the Cutlass MAXboost from the Silver uMax and added it to the Tejon instead? I do know the Tejon has a very powerful signal boost in the red zone of the sensitivity knob range. In fact this is where the Tejon gains its exceptional depth.

That could go either way but this should prove interesting.

Default max boost

My understanding is the max boost is the same on all the umax units. I will do some side by side tests with both. Reading about coils on the Tesoro site the 8 x 9 should give my Silver an advantage also. I like the three way toggle with battery test on the Silver, same as my El Dorado. My Cutlass has performed well and continues to impress me. The Silver with the web will be fun to compare. I have ran my El and Cutlass in boost to the point of overload or chatter but did pull some deep targets when I was in a silver coin producing area. It would be troublesome to run it that way all the time. The only difference I read is the operating frequency 10.6 vs 10.0 kHz

I never found the 8 x 9 to be an advantage over the stock coil other than it looks cool. I'm all thumbs so it doesn't matter to me what side the disc. dial is on. Steve.

It is old but like wine just gets better with age.
