Default Need Headphone help

i know this has been asked a million times and ive searched for an answer to no avail. the headphones i have (garrett) work great except for the long straight cord which gets hung up on everything. i ve seen where others are using coiled headphones but in most cases they dont care to mention what they are or where they got them. i tried looking at kellyco etc and of course the info provided isnt enough for me to decide. what im looking for is a good set (i didnt say expensive) with volume control and a relatively short coil that wont hook on me or the limbs or the shovel or my feet for that matter. i would even go cordless if possible but havent really found anything acceptable there either.can you help me here with some specifics?

Wish I knew you were looking for a set, I just sold a nice set of Jolly Rogers for $50.00 I find these are as nice sounding and better fitting than others I have had & the price is not as high. You can get a new set for around $70.00 I used a $20.00 set of Radio Shack headphones for years and never had a problem with them, also White's Royal GT headphones are nice for the price. Everyone has there favorite brand but I personally don't see alot of difference with the sound in any of them. I would keep an eye out on the forums, quite often there are nice headphones for sale at great prices. I have seen Koss headphones come up for sale often but have been told to stay away from them, been told they are poor quality. Steve.

If you didn't want to use the adapter you can buy a 1/4" plug and soldier it in place of the 3.5mm plug. I have bought heavy duty 90 degree angle 1/4" plugs from eBay really cheap and it isn't hard to soldier them on. Just make sure you get a stereo plug. Steve.

i ordered a pair of these after Jeff sent me the link. should be here by friday. i seriously doubt that you can find a better deal than these anywhere. 10 bucks including shipping. volume control and coiled wire should make for a nice addition to my arsenal. ill report back on how they perform this weekend.

I have a pair simillar to those and they are going to hurt your ears like mine did to me. There isn't enough room in there for your ears, so they get smashed in there and after a bit it really hurts like heck. But It does look like they might have more room, but let us know how they work.

LOL, I hate mine, there is just no room in mine for my ears, and NO I don't have ears like that. I do have a pair of TreasureWise Headphones that I have that fit really nicley. So Like any DIY'er I modded them to suit my needs. I upgraded the speakers, the pot's and the cable. They sound like any other hundred's of dollar headphone's. I have started making my pro headphone's. I am waiting on my shell's still. I ordered them over two weeks ago. Man I need to find a new company, but the price I got on these can't be beat. They are top of the line shells, and fit so nicely.

The phones I got with my DFX were,IMHO quite cheap and didn't cover the entire ear and after a couple of hours it felt like I was wearing a C-clamp on my head. I got a pair of Koss over the ear phones with a very soft pad and I can wear them all day with no problem. My coiled wire did get hooked on sticks or branches while hunting and I fought with that for a while till I cable tied it to the shaft just ahead of my control handle and now its out of the way and not hanging down to catch on every little thing that comes along. I wouldn't hunt without phones as I can hear all those whisper tones and no one else can hear the detector sounding off at every signal.

Go wireless. Radio Shack 33-1253 headset and transmitter. Great sound, lasts all day and regular price about 65.00 Sometimes ran on sale for 39.00 Buy the 1 or 2 year replacement warranty. You will have to also buy a 1/8 to 1/4 adapter to plug it in to the machine. About 2.00 Use velcro to stick the transmitter to the control head.
PS: It has a volume control too.
