Default a 15 cent silver button

found both halves to this button about 10 feet apart made from a 1845 half-dime and a 1855 dime.Very intricate work on the dime. Must have taken quite a while to carve all that. This find was made a couple years back. sorry top picture out of focus MM

i do believe ive never seen anything quite like that before. ive seen holes drilled through old coins for the purpose of wearing around the neck for safe keeping but never one made into a button. very interesting.

Extremely cool. You're mighty lucky to have both halves. WTG!

Why are these not just two separate buttons? I never thought of buttons as having two parts, except as was suggested, in the case of cuff links.

Scavenger, there's only a stem on the back of each. They seem to fit together. Each pc by itself doesn't have anything on it to be attached to a article of clothing.I don't know if they wore jeans back then but the button on a pair of jeans is similar to that.MM
