Default Cool Finds at the Cool Springs Schoolhouse.

My buddy and I made a visit to an old school house today that was built in 1928. It closed in 1965 and now belongs to a church that was built in that same year(1965).

We stopped at the church and got a great tour of the school along with permission to hunt the grounds.

Pickings around the school were a little slim, but what we did find was pretty cool.

I found a couple of old TootsieToy cars and a nice 1900 "V" nickel.

My buddy found a very nice gold plated razor that was dated into the 1920's.

We had a great time and will make another visit in the near future.

HH

This was the first time I tried the hot peroxide method to clean a coin.

I was very surprised to see how good it came out.

Nice nickel. What did you do with peroxide?? I never clean my old finds, but they are probaly not collectibe anyways. And I would probably not sell them either, unless i found a pretty rare one. My old "V" nickel is pretty cruddy. How bad was yours before the bath??

The pictures of the structures sent my heart racing. Definitely a metal detectors dreams.

And..... looks like the kind of awesome treasures you would expect to find there.

I sure hope to come across a great spot like that.

Congrats and keep hitting that spot!!

The "V" was caked over pretty bad and I thought it was a plug out of an electric boxwhen I first saw it.

As for cleaning it, I just heated up some peroxide and let the nickel soak for 1-2 hours. Then I used a toothpick to carefullly remove the crud.
