Default Tesoro high tone vs low tone

What is the popular choice on the Tesoro High tone vs low tone. Any advantage to either one? Can it make that big a differance? I tried to search if this is a old subject.

I could be wrong but the only machine I am aware of with this option is the Cibola. I hear if you are going to get one, make sure it is the high tone. Don't know if it is just easier to hear or what. Also, I think you can send it in to Tesoro and have it changed one way or the other.

The Vaquero also has a high tone or low tone option.

It has to do with your age and what part of your hearing is going. I hear the high tone a lot easier than the low. I'm now able to hear the deep, deep stuff.

Default High tone

I tried a friends low tone Cibola once. Although my hearing is fine, it was just not pleasing sounding. I don't know how much higher the high tone is, but if I get one (which I've been contemplating) I'll get the high.

Got a High Tone Vaquero and the sound is very pleasant.
Never heard what the low tone sounds like, but most threads I read before purchase recommended the High Tone for us folks with a few miles on 'em.

After living a life, and a short stint in an auto factory in my youth, I believe I can hear the high tones a little better than the low.

I always thought hearing damage hurt your ability to hear high pitched sounds first? Like violins in music. Wouldn't a low tone be easier to hear if you had hearing damage?

I believe you are correct in that my hearing "clips" the high tones so I turn the treble up a little on all my music players.

However, I think the theory is that higher tones are easier to distinguish over low tones in older ears.

Probably a frequency thing.

Let's see if Rudy chimes in about this...

He knows EVERYTHING!

DIGGER27: I'm 52 and have normal hearing. What gets me is my eyes. I can't tell a Mercury dime from a hubcap inside of 6 feet or so. Distance is OK. But I can't read a newspaper at all without reading glasses. This aging business chews.

Im no expert but as long as you can hear both tones there shouldnt be any difference , and it dont effect how the machine works.

My Laser Trident 1 is also known as Tesoro Cibola, but it has no high
tone option.Perhaps the Trident 2 does
My MD has a low - not at all loud - single tone, but I can hear it clear
enough on the built in speaker.Even better using the headphones.
I often do the SUPER TUNE mode to detect the very deep signals.
My MD reacts then as a loudspeaker - WOW!
It is said the MDs with manual threshold are the best maschines.
You can play with different threshold and sensitivity settings as you like best.
