The Ace 250 is a fine machine for beginners or even the experienced MDer. You might also want to consider the Fisher, White's or Tesoro lines also. All of them make good detectors, it just depends on what strikes your fancy and what your budget is.

Welcome aboard. I have heard nothing but great reviews for the Ace 250. I have a Tesoro Cibola and I love it. It is a great detector. It is very light weight and has great depht and sensitivity.

Welcome aboard bberryuza.... I have higher end detectors, however I have heard only good things about the Ace 250, at least in dirt and dry sand. HH RickO

Welcome from Kansas. Midway U.S.A.
I've had both the 6000DI and the 2DB. I had a lot of fun with both, but they are about twenty years out of date. I just bought an Ace 250 for a backup machine. If you read the posts, the Ace 250 is the way to go if you're on a budget. there are several other good machines in that price range too. If you're looking for a new detector, you might as well go with the latest models.

First off, I'd like to welcome you to the forum!!!

I have had my Ace 250 for about (3) years know and think it is a great machine for the price. Although, a friend of mine recently got a Fisher F2 and he let my try it out for the weekend awhile ago. I must say that I am impressed with the F2! It is also in the same price range as the Ace 250. For me (others may disagree), they are pretty equal in many ways.

I imagine the ACE 250 has been dissected by every other manufacturer.

i personally started out with a bounty hunter pioneer 505 because i got a great deal on it, but if i was to do it over, i probablly would have gone with something that had a numeric display like the fisher f2 or the Ace 250

That machine is 25 years old! I don't think that's the one you want.

If you're familiar with Whites and want an entry level detector, why not but the Coinmaster for $180? Small investment ... entry level, but not a lot to lose, for sure.

The ACE 250 is nice as well, for $200. If i were looking for something cheap I'd pick one of those two. OR... surf for a used XTerra.

Thanks, for all the feedback. I will check out the coinmaster. I also was looking @ the Detector-Pro pin pointer.
