Default Flying Eagle and 2 Cent VDI?

I will be in a super old area this weekend and dont have a clue on these VDIs. I know there are variables. Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?

Not sure what kind of detector you are using but I think you have a V3. A 2 cent piece registers about like a clad qtr, not quite as high as a silver qtr. The flying eagle hits much lower. I haven't found one with my Spectra yet but they are the same alloy as IH fatties. I took a fattie back to the detector room and air-tested it with the Spectra. The VDI number seemed to hit most of the time in the 36-38 range. It was hard to tell because even with the sensitivity turned down I was getting a lot of interference. That should get you close though.

The two cent piece on my MXT hit around a 70 or so, been some time. The flying eagle cent should hit like any other fatty indian head, would be my guess. For those with bounty hunter machines the flying eagle would be around a pull tab. Of course an on edge coin causes a difference and ground conditions effect things also. Depth can cause a coin to read lower and two coins togather can cause a combined reading. Like they say dig it all to be sure.

Whatever happened to the "if it beeps dig it" slogan?

Hope you slay em out there. I was headed to the farm I told you about last Sunday, charged my batteries overnight got everything ready. For the first time I did a turn it on before I go kinda thing........ guess what nothing on the display did not even make a sound. I treat this machine with baby gloves....AHhhh im going to be down while I send the MXT to service

To top it off I have a farm to hunt that is 100++ years old. Its like a you will for sure find something here and now im out of service.

When I airtested with an 1858 FE on my XLT I was getting between 35-38 VDI. I don't have any two center's to test with .

One can buy a crappy two center for testing, in fact they can do it with most coins they have yet to find, except maybe the gold ones.

The Two Center I just found 2 weeks ago came up 77-79 VDI on my DFX. Also found a FE two Saturdays ago with my MXT and that came 55-58 VDI.

Both were decent repeatable signals and the FE was down 7+ inches. Good luck!!
