Default So how stupid am I being?

I've developed a bad habit of not wearing gloves for digging. It just seems so much easier to use bare hands. I've already been cut twice. So how long until I get the cut that makes me regret it? Any other non glove wearers out there?

I've never worn gloves, except in the winter to keep my hands warm.

I don't wear gloves either. They just don't feel right. A couple of weeks ago while hunting I got a nasty deep scratch on my hand and poison ivy, and I still haven't learned learned my lesson.

At first I didn't wear gloves but I kept getting blisters on hands were soar all the time, So I bought some gloves and haven't had that problem anymore, You should try it out and see how it works for ya. Plus I am at the beach so there all kinds of !!!! that gets in my scoop that I have to remove with gloves on.

I don't think I could use gloves at all. I wouldn't have the feeling necessary to find targets, and something sharp (usually glass is the culprit) could cut right through the gloves anyway.

I've cut myself dozens of times over the years, and I just consider it one of the minuses of the hobby.

The last time I got cut was from an extremely sharp piece of glass. I barely touched it but it really went in deep. I had a moment of panic because thought it was a needle at first. This is what has made me re-think my non-glove wearing.

I like to wear a glove on my right hand, but not on my left.

It helps to keep my palm from getting as sore when pushing my digger into the ground.

I swing the MD in the left hand and dig with my right.

If you can find them, these are the best gloves I've seen..There Gardening Gloves made by the company Showa...The bottoms or palm side have a Nitrile coating & dirt and mud won't stick to them..Also I've never been cut while wearing them..I bought mine at a local Sutherland's for around $5.00..Ever since I sliced my hand wide open on a razor I dug up I never hunt without some sort of protection..Kevlars are the best, but mud sticks to them bad.

Not wearing gloves here, too. Sometimes this seems to be very dangerous, even if detecting bottlenecks with the cap on it.

Heard from others who met some razor blades with bare fingers...

We in South America have a saying :
" A cat wearing gloves will not catch any mouse "

Default Always !

I've been wearing gloves for almost everything I do. Been doing it for at least 10 years. I suppose I'm used to it. I only alter the gloves as weather dictates.
I picked up a nice 3 pack of Wolverine gloves at Sams Club for $22. They're awesome. When it gets cold I wear a mitten on my detector hand and some sort of glove on the recovery hand.

I don't wear gloves, and I don't recall ever getting cut. My hands usually are already cut up from other things, so after digging, I have to clean them out with alcohol or peroxide and get the dirt out of my wounds.
I would wear gloves if I found ones that were comfortable.

I do the same thing. Keeps my hand from getting sore using the tool. My left hand I use to pick up the goodies. The gloved hand picks up the trash.

That's the type of glove I wear too. They're pretty cheap.

I usually only wear gloves when it is cold. I'm pretty careful when I retrieve targets. Cutting my hand doesn't concern me too much. I'm a mechanic at a glass container plant and get cut on a regular basis so I don't even notice a small cut.

Likewise. Then again, I don't do much winter detecting nowadays.

Don't wear any, but roofer gloves might be handy if it was cold enough to numb your hands.
