Question Civil War

I live in a great area for looking for Civil War stuff, but have not until recently. (I mainly just coinshoot)Yesterday I found myself on a hill that may have had a small skirmish. People have found stuff here before. I did not come for that, but I was here. My questions are:

Civil War bulletts are lead? What does a detector detect them as?
Anything else that may help me would be useful.

I believe I have picked up lead before and they rang in as pennies on the high tone side. It made me think I was into some nice silver coins. But when uncovered it was only lead. Hope it helps, I run a Bounty Hunter 505 and an Ace 250

Civil war bullets show up around the penny range I think on most detectors, At least they do on my Explorer & also did on my old XLT..

Default CW Bullets

CW bullets will be all lead, no brass or copper jacket.

The typical "three ringer" and Enfield .58" bullets, usually are ~ where a zink cent or Indian Head penny reads on my Explorer and Whites machines. As the bullets get smaller, the redings go down. A bucking ball or a small round pistol bullet (~.25") reads down ~ where a nickel would read or a CW uiniform button.

The one I found had a clear high tone....though I just have a BH Tracker IV so I assume this wont help at all since you all have fancier detectors with different ID features

The 3 ringers I have read almost dead center on all my detectors.
