Talking Serious finds today at old farmhouse **Gold $5 coins**

So, I have not posted much this season, but i have found some neat things. I found a 1/3 carat diamond pendant in 14k white gold setting at a tot lot which paid for my Ace250...3 times over and really gave me the "I told ya so!!" to my wife She doesn't like to metal detect, but tolerates my hobby.

I've been hunting a lot on esplanades this season and found some silver coins (mercs and rosies). I got permission to hunt a number of houses this season...from friends to complete strangers. I recently hunted a house that was built in the mid-1800's and found a silver 1962 quarter and a silver spoon...and a LOT of toy cars and current clad. The acreage is large...5-6 acres. All day I was getting bunk...pop tabs, toy cars, and hunks of...I think aluminum. The hunks are definitely not lead as they are light, but they "ping" like they might be silver. Anyway, I got a good signal FINALLY and dug. In the SAME hole...3 $5 gold eagles: 1880, 1881, & 1897. The 1880 and 1881 cleaned up EASILY with just water, but the 1897 had some redish crud on it. I was careful only to clean the coins with just water.

I am REALLY happy with this find!! The best part is I have an agreement with the owner to return jewelery. I am searching for jewelery that the owner believes to be buried on the property by the prior owner. I showed him the coins and he congratulated me and is hopeful that I will soon recover the jewelery. Talk about a great week!

Todays gold "close", they are worth $257 each. To a collector, lord only knows. Not like there are tons of them out there....................

I can't stop staring at them !! I put them in some air-tight cases and am very pleased. I joked with the property owner that my detector cost about as much as the worth of one of the three coins

Wait... You didn't just find one holy grail- a gold coin, but three? With your Ace? That's awesome! Congratulations- You should submit your story to Garrett for some free stuff once you've finished picking that parcel of land clean.
You're on one heck of a roll, get back out there!!

I can't even fathom what my reaction would be to finds like those -- I'm not even sure I'd be able to move for a while.
A heartfelt Congratulations!!

Major congrats - don't know if this was found in an old farm field, but it could be part of a cache that was scattered by the plow. Keep looking and good luck.

All I have to say is WOW, You are sooo lucky. It's hard enough to find just 1 and you found 3. That is just amazing. Also the condition they are in are excellent. Well hope you get back out there and find some more goodies. Good Luck.
