Default disturbing "good luck" token

My brothers and I went to the ball field that just keeps giving, three of us. Anyway, we all did pretty good, four silvers a piece, but this is what I want to show you guys. I had a 85 reading on my Fisher F 75. I dug it, and this disturbing "good luck" token popped out. maybe one of you guys who knows what he's doing can do some research on this thing. The majority of the stuff we pull out of that field is dated 20's 30's and 40's. I noticed the swastikas on the front and back. Would this have something to do with WW2? Thanks again.

I wouldn't worry about the swastika, it's an emblem going back centuries.

Have you tried rubbing the coin to see what happens ?

"The swastika is an ancient symbol that has been used for over 3,000 years. (That even predates the ancient Egyptian symbol, the Ankh!) Artifacts such as pottery and coins from ancient Troy show that the swastika was a commonly used symbol as far back as 1000 BCE. "

It's only disturbing if you don't know any better. Hitlers swastika was facing the other direction. The one depicted is actually a very old, way way before the time of the Nazis, good luck symbol.

Sweet token!

Default Nice find Finndogg

Like they said above it precedes the nazi issue by a couple thousand years. There actually have been a few of them found and posted on this forum. I have one different than yours. Not so disturbing...Gil

The swastika is a sign of wealth and good luck, wealth, the one Hitler had was turned like the upside down cross idea, he took something that had one idea then turned it and made it somehting else. The swastika is not a evil thing but just the oppisite, don't worry about it. Keep it in your pocket when you go MD'ing and it will bring you luck.

Default Boy Scouts Swastika

The Boy Scouts used the right facing Swastika as a good luck symbol before Hitler made it a bad thing. Here's 2 tokens I found

The swastika, as shown on the pictures in this string, were considered a good luck sigil. It still is used frequently by those of the Buddhist (sp?) faith both in Tibet and other areas. Hitler twisted it's appearance for his own use. Great find though!

You know they say it's better luck when you give it away, I would let you give it to me if you really wanted the best luck ever. Finndogg dont read the next part .

Hey guys do you think he will buy it since he trusts us so much. LOL

I had the same disturbing reaction when I found this token last year. Glad it really is a good luck symbol!

Nice find!

Yeah, that looks like it. I actually got cut off while looking at it, since bidding was done. What is it's story?

In Japan the reverse swastika is used on modern maps to designate shrines.

I have seen that Good Luck token before.

Along the Seaside boardwalk in NJ, it came out of a kind of fortune telling machine. You paid your quarter, and if you were lucky, this token would come out. Have also seen similar fortune telling machines give tokens like it out at carnivals

Nice find tho, looks older than most!

Nice find!

Ed
