Smile Super SILVER BARBER NIGHT!!

Fellow MD'ers,

Had one heck of an hour hunt at a different old house tonight. Please note I've hunted this house three other times. The first find right after getting out of my truck and firing up my DFX was a '43-P War nickle, wow things are good tonight. Next find was another one of my encrusted pennies that cleaned up into one of my favorite pennies an IH -1903 (please read my next thread, "How to save an Indian", to see and read how I cleaned it up). The next hole was a Wheat, now I'm thinking "where there's Wheats there is silver". Things are going great:spin:. Then I hit a few trinkets, then a "silver" plated infant fork, then a real old and interesting Remington and Sons shell case, things still going good. Next find was an iffy quarter-dime signal that out of the hole came a 1898 Barber Quarter . Started to rain and get dark but I pushed on for one more find, now that I was on a hot streak, and that's when I found the 1895 Barber Dime . At home I carefully took "before" pictures and then started cleaning up my treasure. First step was warm water and a soft tooth brush. I was shocked by the superb condition of the Barber Quarter (I only found one quarter, pictures are with and w/o flash), looks like it was dropped right after coming from the mint...:spin: Looked at my 2010 Red Book and found the 1898 Barber to be an EF-40 about $35-70. Then decided to check out the 1895 Barber dime, wasn't expecting much because it was worn down to a G-4, but was shocked that it was a semi-key date with only 690,000 made and a minimum value of $80. My best night to date value $$wise..

The quarter is gorgeous. Quite the nice hole that you dug... must have been very exciting!

I sure hope I can pull a Barber quarter this year yet.
