Default PI PRO Coil mount discovery.

Hi guys and guyettes. I was going over my Whites Surf PI PRO for the sake of an inspection when it dawned on me that I'd seen lots of posts about coil flop on these machines. In looking over the coil mount bolt I realized that the nylon bolt was a tad over-sized. Seeing this it made me wonder if I had anything around the house suitable for emergency replacement should the need arise and I remembered rat-holing one of these hard nylon bolt/nut combos recently.

This is a bolt used to mount your toilet seat to the bowl. Now I know you're thinkin' EWWW!!! I cleaned it up. AND you can pick up a nice pristine two-pack of the suckers at Home Depot or Lowe's if you are not anticipating a toilet seat swap at home anytime soon.
I know someone has already found a cooler way to accomplish the deed here but I was amused by the discovery that I had at least four replacement bolt/nut combos in my house should I need'em. Happy Hunting all.

Good idea. I have not planned on that in the field repair. I 'll need to get a couple at lowe's. Have you tried swaping it out to make sure your idea works?

I really like your idea . of the T bolt, I also had coil problems, I seen a store bought one & made these out of 1/4" plexiglas & lexon. The holed ones are for water hunting to stop water restriction, & I use solid ones on my land detectors. Thanks for shareing your idea.

Default Perr and Gobble

Yes I have swapped it out and it does work. Additionally the plastic (I think) is harder than the stock bolt and therefore should hold a bit tighter. I removed the stock bolt and have reassembled the coil mounting with the nylon toilet seat bolt/nut.
Gobble I like the bracket you've made. you notice any added drag swinging in the water?

No drag at all, the hole is 1 1/4" I have installed these on all my water detectors. On the land detectors I did not put the hole in, It really stops the coil from moveing

Looks like an arsenal of detectors there in the background of your photo.
