Default Hello from ohio!!!

my dad and i just started metaldetecting this year. we use a minelab xterra70. we have 7.5khz and 18.5khz coils. we have used 7.5khz almost the whole time. we really dont know what to use the 18.5khz on. we are sort of on a stand still right now until we can find a good price on a 3khz coil.

Welcome from California.
I suppose the 18Khz would work well for finding fine chains, coins on edge ,high karat gold and other unusual things. Nice to have a few frequency`s.
Good luck out there.

Welcome from Myrtle Beach!
I just got back from a vacation in Cleveland. I got to hunt three yards in Cleveland Heights for a total of five silver coins. It took me about an hour total.
You have a great state to hunt up there.
Have fun,
Christian

Welcome from an OSU guy living in California.

In metal detecting, the higher the frequency...the more sensitive the detector is to small gold items.
