Default Missed morning low tide, but hit it in the evening

I had all intentions of meeting Night Hawk down at the beach this morning for low tide. But I got stuck with the child all day, so that got ruined However I had already planned on meeting up with foreverRich this evening anyway, so it all worked out.

I got down to the designated spot about 745p, took a few pics of the surroundings. Lightly populated beach, just the way I like it

I started to hunt while I waited for Hollis to arrive. I really wanted to get the BHID 300 ground balanced and working up to par as soon as possible. As much as I love the discrimination, for the life of me, ground balancing this thing just seems difficult. Maybe it's just me. At least with the PI it's basically turn on and go. I scored a few bottle caps and some clad here and there, nothing special.

Hollis showed up, we had a brief chat and then went on our way. Saw another shark or two in the lane, all stopped for some conversation.

My only noteworthy find was as the tide was letting out, there was a slight dropoff that opened up, and I was able to hook this neat religious token you see pictured below. Other wet stuff finds included a '65 Quarter and a few nickels.

Great night to be out, 77 deg air temp, warm water, tide out... equaled 2.5 hours of good hunting

Nice photos, that sand castle seems familiar, very well may have been the spot I visited when I came up! HH

sectshun8,

Thanks for the thread and nice pictures. What are your thoughts on the BHID 300?

I’m in the market for a beach detector and I decided to with the White’s PI Dual Field.

Do use both of these detectors?

Best Regards,
Silver Hawk

I used the DF Surf PI on Saturday, and obviously the BHID 300 today. I bought both at the same time, as I got a steal of a deal on them I couldn't pass up.

As it stands now, I'm leaning to liking the PI much more. It's turn on and go, perfect. No ground balance, no disc, just dig all the changes in threshold and good to go. Simple and deep. With all that digging eventually something good will turn up

The BHID, well, I love the discrimination. I like the visual and audible ID. But IMO, the ground balancing is a nightmare. It's tough to get just right and make the most out of it. I seem to struggle with the BHID, or maybe I don't... I did have better finds I need to get with an experienced VLF beach hunter for some tips and pointers. But my preference leans to the PI.

Thank you very much. I believe you have reinforced my belief that I’ve made the right decision by going with the PI Dual Field.

I’m on my best behavior hoping that my wife will take notice and will get me a new White’s PI Dual Field for my birthday … :saint:
