Default Hello everyone!

My name is Tracey, and I'm in Oxnard, CA. Where are the best, most rewarding places to treasure-hunt? I'm extremely new at this!

Default Welcome to the forum.

I am fairly new at this myself, but I would suggest you try your own back yard first, maybe hit the tot lots near where you live. The main thing is to have fun. Don't expect to find treasures galore right away...althoug some new detectorists have made some great finds on their first hunts.
Also, there is a lot of very useful information in these posts. When I started I spend a couple of days reading old posts and picked up alot of good advice.

Best of luck to you and like I said, have fun.

Welcome to the forum Tracey. Glad to have you here.

Like Johnny said, a good place to start is in your back yard and gain experience with your machine, pin pointing and making a neat retrieval.

Welcome aboard Tracey,

If your "real: question is treasure, then Calif. is the place. Doing the research on where history was, then trace there steps.

What is your Treasure? mine is getting out and enjoying the hunt.

Michael

Like others have mentioned start in your own yard, not only for the practice but like Beefcake said, every yard has coins.

After that, it all depends on what you consider "treasure." Theres many places to find all types of items old and new. For newly dropped coins and jewelry you just need to see where the crowds are. As for older items, research will be your most helpful tool.

Welcome to the forum, and good luck on your hunts!

-Kyle

Hey Tracey, Oxnard is close to the sea...start at the beaches. This time of year you'll find lots of nice donations. Good luck! Look forward to your post.

Default welcome

Welcome to the forum Tracey.
And the best, most rewarding place to hunt is your own yard. You learn the techniques of mding, understand what you detector is telling you, and usually surprised at what you are finding right in your own back yard!
