Default Is there any reason....

....to collect bicentennial quarters? I have seen that they are not worth more than face value but I always keep the ones I find in my change. What do you do????

Default guilty

Yes.. I'm guilty of it too. Turns out it maybe a 'genetic disorder'. I recently went through a 'cache' of coins that I received after my mother had passed away in 1999. As we cleaned up and sorted my parents belongings, we came across various jars, cans and stashes of coins and currency. We pooled all these together, sorted and divided them 5 ways for my siblings and myself. It turns out dad had collected bicentennial coins too. My 1/5 resulted in 40 bicentennial quarters. With my collection I now have over 100 bicentennial quarters, including 4 'first day issues' I got at the bank when they were first issued.

i do not, they have no melt value, and each (P and D) had over 800,000,000 minted

I have a couple of the 3-coin 40% silver sets. That's as far as I'll collect them.

My mother and my grandmother both saved them. My mother still does (they don't count for much at Brown's Chapel Cemetery, so my grandmother no longer collects them).

I have no idea why they save them, especially since collectors want them in uncirculated condition, when they want them at all.

Default some worth extra bucks

Just weighing in on this conversation,,,There are a few state coins that are collectable. When the dies become loose on the presses the back side of the coin is not alligned the same as the front. some are as much as 180 degrees off but they are not as valuble as the ones that are only 90 or so degrees off. I think Wisconson was one of the coins where the die's loosend up but there was more than one....................ellobo
