Default October Retrospective: Sat Down, Stood Up, 20 Silver Smasher Month!

Well folks, it was quite the month. I turned 31 in October and there were certainly no shortage of gifts from the ground!

Cutting right to the chase, October saw my very first Seated coin recovery, an 1890 Dime. It registered as a 12.45 at 12" on the CTX and I figured it would be just a other deep Wheat. Wrong. It was almost too dark out to see, but I rubbed the dirt off the face of the coin (something I NEVER do to silver coins, not even Roosies) and I just caught a glimpse of the shield on the obverse and thought, "....are you kidding me?!" It's a good thing it was dark since many questions would have been raised by the random wierdo laying on the ground holding a dime!

Also of note was the dateless SLQ, my second SLQ of the year and my third ever. That was a crazy recovery on a cold blustery day and made it all worth it. Also, I was surprised to find out how low the mintage of my 1936 S Washington was, it's one of the rarest coins I've ever found.

I also recovered a very nice 1887 IHC, my oldest "coin" (Civil War token notwithstanding) that I've ever found.

Besides the 20 silver coins (a monthly record for me), 3 Sterling rings and 62 Wheats (I think also a monthly record) came out of the ground in October.

Australian Silky Oak is the wood, and enjoy the in-situs!

Good Fortune and Happy Hunting to all of you in November!

I agree! Aren't those some pretty shots?
Awesome lineup of great scores Bleu! "Australian Silky Oak" - sounds luxurious.

Many thanks! If your Seated is anything like mine, you'll find yours when you don't expect it, which makes it even better!

No joke! I found less Ag than this last year! It feels like I've come a long way and I'm very thankful.
