That buckle is so nice! Plus, the counter stamp on the reale takes an already great coin and adds a little more history to it. Congrats!

That's gotta be one of the oldest coins I've ever seen found in the states, awesome finds man! I would imagine there's gold of the similar age as well? Only a matter of time, congrats!

Thanks. Ive got a bunch of cobs, though not a big 4 reales, but Id have to say the buckle is my favorite. It dates 1690-1720 as do most of the finds from this site

Its my oldest with a date. Dont count the 1652 Pine Tree as it was minted circa 1670. A hammered English silver from the late 16th/early 17th century would be a dream come true for me. Its possible but not likely

The buckle for sure but I dont think many cobs are found in Europe. The Spainards and others melted them down upon arrival. The vast majority come from shipwrecks throughout the world and the rest come from metal detectorists on early colonial sites in the New World.

Whoa... I don't know that I've ever seen a cob spill posted; one is a great find by itself! And a counterstamped one on top of that... Nice buckle, too.
