Default Old ferry landing revisited

Hi all,

Ever have one of those days when you have your hunt all planned
out in advance, only to find out on arrival at your site you can't hunt
due to circumstances beyond your control?. Well thats what happened to me,
i had been looking forward all week to hitting my new ring spot only to
find out the local rowing club had some kind of event thing happening & i
was told i could'nt hunt there today. The gentleman was very polite &
actually thanked me for my ongoing removal of trash from the site.(club
members have noticed & commented)

After having a bit of a think i decided to revisit the old ferry site,
as the water level has subsided a bit since i was there last.

This is the site, with a little over a metre of extra shoreline exposed to what is seen in this pic

This is a very trashy site but here's what i managed to weed out, 6"
H/F DD coil.

The keepers for the day minus one item

28 decimal coins for $3-70 no oldies this time

Three old padlocks, two brass one iron

An old spoon & a pocket knife (not old)

A few shotgun shell ends

No hunt down the river is complete without the obligatory lead

I had this one little spot that kept giving an overload signal which
i ignored last time there for the lack of experience, but after reading
on the forum that sometimes an overload can be something good, i thought
i would check it out for the sake of curiosity. It read as iron -6 on the
TID about 3 foot long with a sweet 42 on one end & it was about a foot deep, here's what it turned out to be

All in all another fun day,

Thanks for looking & HH to all

Cheers Mick.

Looks like you had a great day at that old ferry site. Congratulations and thanks for the great pictures. I always like to see what the other side of the world looks like Mick

Thanks for your story and pics. That is so cool, and a great inspiration to me! There is an old rope-pull ferry site near my home that I've always thought about detecting. You'd never know it by it's present condition, but my research has it pegged to a very specific spot here on the Mississippi River. Here's an old photo I've been able to find of the actual ferry from 1900:

lots of neat finds there!
the tank is a 25 pound nitrogen tank...hope its not full! thats either a 1,800 PSI or 2,015 PSI tank and being in the ground like that surely the aluminum is breaking down...by the numbers on the tank it was manufactured in 1983.
