Default Tumbler , finally done

As some of you knew, I started a scratch built tumbler early last year. The only thing that was holding up the project of a zero cost tumbler was the motor. Well, a nice little 1/10 hp motor surfaced last week, and now the project has come to completion. I took the real bad clads I had that were black and nasty (around 30$ total) and was able to tumble the whole shot at once. They came out pretty good. At least you can now tell they are coins and not metal slugs of some sort. I'll be ready for this years bounty------as soon as this snow is gone that is.

Thats going to be a bit of a beast. Windscreen motors do a good job and can be picked up for almost nothing. Can't have enough power for bulk cleaning though.

Sounds cool, Hoser. You're so wise.
One tenth the HP, so that equals one tenth the gas consumption, huh?
(There's jus' so much wisdom in here, it jus' makes me wanna puke...! )
Kiddin' ya bro.
So, do you have a "final product pic" of it?

Well it took me long enough to get some pics of the completed tumbler didn't it. I hope this takes as I haven't posted any pics on this new forum. Check out the size of the drive chain I used. Its for a veeery, veeery smal bicycle .

This will give some perspective to the chains size.

Thanks Joe. Lets see, probably three to four hundred easy. The test I did when I finished it was about 150 half dollar sized washers. Tumbled them for an hour with no problems.

Yup, white aquarium gravel, water to just cover the coins, a dash of ammonia, and dish soap. However, I want to try something like dishwasher soap(Cascade) as it dosen't seem to foam so much.

Yes Hoser, "Cascade" don't want any streaks on those newly shined coins.

That is an awesome little project, congrats..... Putting the dime on the chain drive put the whole thing in perspective. At first glance I thought the whole unit was the size of concrete mixer.... ..Gil

Nice work you did there Hoser. I bought a tumbler at a hobby store. It's a lot smaller than your tumbler and cost over CAN$60 :o(
