Default dust\rain cover

Anyone use one of these covers on the ace 250? Do they work ok at keeping dust and water out? screen still viewable? Headphone jack accessable?

Also what about rechargable batteries in the 250. Can you use them? Or am I better off to buy regular batteries?

I do not have an Ace 250 but I do have an XLT witht eh rain and dust cover on it. It mainly protects my machine from mud and dirt. It helps shed rain too though.

About the rechargable batteries. They will work great for you if you take cre of them and have a good charger. The charger has to be one that senses how much charge the battery has on it and changes charging time to accomodate for that. Regular cheap chargers just run the batteries through a cycle that is the same every time no matter what. This leads to over charging which ruins the batteries really quick. The "smart chargers" really get the job done and make your investment worth while. I have been using rechargable AA's in my XLT for as long as I've had it and they work great. I'd advise anyone to get rechargables as long as they can take care of them and are willing to spend the money up front to get a good charger. If you have any other questions about specific battery brands or chargers, feel free to PM me.

I made one for Cibola using tupeware and cover that I sew on my old singer sewing machine. I also added a head lamp for night hunting.

That looks pretty cool, but I think if I tryed using a sewing machine the outcome would be very bad.

Drizzly days or caught in a cloud burst.
I tie a rain bonnet around it, dollar store 10 for a $1.00

Seen one on a minelab, the plastic was cloudy.
Scratches from the sand, he was due to buy another one.

I was wondering the same thing. I don't think it will withstand rain all day, but it should protect you from a sudden downpour and the elements. Anyhoo, Spend your $12, use it, then you can give me a call and let me know how it works Maybe I'll buy one if you like it. Always here to help. HH

I have one on my Ace 250 - it came in the "Sport package" LOL. Anyhow, I've only had the detector out a couple of times so far but I do like the little cover - it keeps all the little buttons clean from my muddy fingers. And yes, so far, I can still see all the buttons & screen through it. And the headphone jack & coil connection are still accessible.

Most of them obscure the display but they do protect from rain.
