I have detected one farm field for the past two summers now, here in southern New Hampshire. I have found more good finds in this one field then most others combined. Unfortunately I am not allowed to search the farm house but the field is now a donated land share.
Im going to say someone must have been a civil war veteran who returned from the war and worked the field. And this field was worked! I have literally found over 100 suspender buckles and 50! Harmonicas!
Yesterday I spotted a section that wasn't hayed last year so I got to it and found a beautiful civil war coat button and a ARMY token from the civil war that is in GREAT shape.
That makes my 5th civil war button from the field. The others are a big and a small New Hampshire Volunteer militia button.
A Vermont button. A Massachusetts Volunteer militia button. And an anchor navy button (no picture). ★★★THE PICTURES OF THE BIG NH BUTTON AND THE MASS BUTTON ARE NOT MINE.I CANNOT GET MY PICTURES OF THOSE TO LOAD, SO I JUST USED THESE PICS OF THE SAME BUTTONS★★★
Along with the buttons I found a sword plate buckle but the going consensus is that is a civilians buckle sold during the civil war. More used for show not war. This one isn't as sturdy as a real one. Anyway I still like it.
The other interesting finds were a counterfeit 1838 Mexican silver dollar. Ended up being pewter that was "silver washed".See the notch cut on the edge? I think someone did that to check if its real.
2 body ID belt tags. They say "to identify me follow instructions on other side" you flip it over and it says" telegraph this number to the Loyal Protective Insurance Company in Boston Mass. They will notify my friends" they were used before picture IDs so if someone found you dead they could know who you were.
A fake stamped gold ring marked 18k and another ring that is beautifully carved and marked 18k but I think its gold filled. A president Harrison campaign token from 1839-40.
The rest of the pics are other finds all from this field. Silver spoon-coins-buckles-pocket watch-1839 10 cent French colonies coin. I recently ran into a man who is writing a book about the history of this area and the families who lived there. He said he wants to use my photos of finds in it.
Thanks for looking alot of pics I KNOW. And I actually have many more of all the Indians and large cents and other cool stuff. I tried to show the good stuff. Like I said this one field is the most incredible time capsule ive ever detected. Plus no new garbage.
Thanks again.
