Smile Man, that was quick!

Ordered my new Garrett Ace 250 on Monday and rec'd it today. They have great service to go along with their great price.

It was a breeze to put together. Haven't program it yet because I don't know my way around it yet. Have to read the manual first I guess.

But, my wife put a coin under the rug in the family room and I put the Ace 250 to work finding it. Never heard so much beeping. Not sure what all that was about but it did beep over the coin too so I guess it works. LOL!

Don't have my headphones yet (ordered from a separate vendor) but does the external beeping stop when you plug in the headphones? Is there a volume control on this rig?

Can't wait to learn how to program the settings and understand how to use it effectively!

Jim

Congrats! You'll love that ACE 250. Read and re-read the manual, check out the tips and tricks on youtube for the ACE, read everything you can posted here on the forum about how to use the ACE and you'll get the most from it.

On a side note ... depending on what your floor is made of, you'll have lots of metal in it. That's why you were getting all of those beeps. You should do your tests outside.

Good on ya! I've got a few friends who use the Ace 250 and love it! One fellow has paid for the detector 4 times over with coin/ring finds, just working parks and reserves. All the best with it!

Default Ace250

"Rookies"... but don't tell Wild Willy you received your Ace250 so quick. He's been waiting over a week to get his. You also might check some links that I have posted in the Ace250 Group.

Good luck with the new machine but as some posts above mentioned You have to use it outside or else you are picking up every metallic thing in the floor or under the floor.

I did the same thing when I got my ace 250- It was detecting the rebar in the concrete slab as well as nails near the walls...
There is no volume control, so without headphones, EVERYONE knows what you're doing and hears the distinctive "coin alert". I bought the Ace headphones to go with it, and they work well. I can't wear them directly on my ears though because they are so loud. Only con to the headphones is that the wiring is being stripped at the connector to the detector. Other than that they work fine. ANd only $13.

Yes, the external beeping stops when the headphones are plugged in. Seems like there should be a volume control, (dont know the Ace) but if not may have to use headphones that have their own volume adjustments.

Yes you will love your ACE 250. I was going to tell you about not testing in the house, but someone beat me to it. It will detect floor nails. The electric can mess with it too. You will like the earphones-- saves on batteries and lets you hear faint signals. Also helps to ignor all of the quizable Kids Good hunting!

If you put some scotch tape over the slots in the bottom you can control how loud it is by how much of the holes you leave uncovered. That's what I did so I could use it in the parks without people on the other side of the park hearing my beeping. Or I got an adapter and use regular head phones but just hang them around my neck. It a loud little thing isn't it.

Yes you definitely need headphones with volume control to use with the Ace, and with a lot of other detectors too.
