I was wondering if anybody has a good idea for my best finds of 2008? There isn't much, I started in august and only have a few coins and tokens i want to display.the only thing i can think of looks kind of silly. i glued corners of baggies to a piece of paper and labeled it with a pen. i can use photoshop or paint to make some kind of template. I don't know, any ideas would be appreciated.

I would say a Rikers mount. They look like a picture frame, but have like a foam, or cotton pad in side. You put felt, or fabric over the white pad, then put your coins, and labels in, then put the glass cover back on and it should hold them in place. Now, some do not come with wall hangers, but you can get them at the hardware store and add them.
I have never put coins in them myself, just fossils. But it should work pretty well. And it would protect from dust. Sorry, only have sharks teeth in this one, no md finds... Just my two cents... Justin |

A shadow box would work great.

There's a few threads floating around with some home made display cases... give a search. I remember they looked pretty sweet.

Curio display cases - both wall hanging and glass top table types.
Your local gift shop will likely have inexpensive wall mounted wooden collectors display cases with glass slide-open fronts with perfect sized compartments that accommodate the standard size cardboard coin holders - looks similar to this: ![]() I have a couple that have four compartments across and 6 compartments down and they work great. Shot-glass collector displays are also another good size. Check Google images for a bunch of ideas. Perhaps check your local Craigslist or eBay as well. Another simple and inexpensive idea would be a simple long stained piece of wood that's wall mounted, where a thin groove cut into it that's just wide enough to hold a coin or cardboard coin holder vertically, kind of like the way ornamental dish displays are made. How about this for an idea: Original 1950s Coca-Cola Curio Display Case Wall Shelf on eBay That's just plain cool! Maybe find something vintage like that and make your own? __________________ |

Jax, the sharks teeth display is cool
! AWU, Wish I had some ideas for ya, but I don't have any coins displayed yet. Check some of the albums some of the folks have here though. I remember seeing some nice displays. Good luck.

I'm planning on making a shadow box to display some of my finds. Woodworking is another hobby of mine. I feel that way I can change the display as I find new stuff. I like the Coke box idea!

I use an old lead print sorting drawer. Overall they're about 18x24 inches, with different size compartments for the different print for the old presses. I bought the three I have now for about $5. each at a yard sale, and modified them for some larger finds (cap guns and the like). I don't have anything valuable in them, if I ever find a Morgan or other nice finds I'd probably keep it away. Curt
