DIGGER27
In Memory Of
This was my first hunt of 2015
http://metaldetectingforum.com/showthread.php?t=205487
Not much but I got out and dug and little did I know how this year would shape up.
The year started out great for me, three gold rings in January even before everything defrosted after a very cold winter and then a bunch of other great things as the weather warmed and the digging got easier.
At the end of June we were moving to another state and there was an accident and I thought my year was over, depression set in, but I battled back and ended up knocking a few things off my bucket list even though I am still not going very far and mostly hunt an old park close to me most of the time.
Supposedly a hunted out park but all were wrong about that.
All in all a surprisingly great year for me...no complaints at all.
Clad, something north of $200 this year which is pretty good considering all that happened to me, plenty of trash but not as much as you might think to dig all this great stuff.
Always my main goal, keep learning to dig the least amount of garbage while somehow still finding the most great treasure.
Now the pics.
Coins first, I found several Indian heads. old wheats, not a ton of silver like some of you guys but a record amount for me in dimes and quarters.
Even found a couple of war nickels and a very worn 1800's V nickel.
These two are the standouts...my first seated and my first silver dollar and it is a peace dollar at that.
Gold next...the Neena ring is 22k, still not sure about the watch back or cosmetic case thing but pretty sure it's gold of some kind so I'll throw it in here.
The large pendant was my latest and one of my greatest, worth big bucks if I sell it as jewelry.
Bunch of silver jewelry this year, the Masonic coin is one of my favorites and it isn't exactly a real coin so I will count it as jewelry.
Too many others to insert here so the rest of my silver pics are below plus one titanium ring.
The first pic is a clamshell earring with a pearl that might be real, the ring with the copper looking stone is not a stone but actually metal...probably copper.
I call it my first steam punk jewelry piece and very unusual.
Odds and ends and other cool stuff.
My first lead toy soldiers, an early tuberculosis pin, a Canadian goose band, a Chuck E Cheese token before they changed the name of the company, a heavy brass elephant tchotchkala thingy plus a slot token from the old Dunes Oasis casino in Vegas.
Three of the best are a tri-metal bracelet, a Dragoon button and a Gold Nugget Saloon token that is not real, not a souvenir or a fantasy token but a fake made and aged to rip people off.
Much more interesting than an ordinary old token and I found plenty of those this year also.
These were the highlights and there was so much more.
Fun, adventure, surprises, exercise and even therapy...plus once again it paid for itself several times over.
Just the greatest hobby ever!
HERE IS HOPING WE ALL HAVE A GREAT 2016!
