Default Civil War ID help

Hi - I recovered these from not too far from where a battle took place - the knife-looking thingie is about a foot long. The other small piece is about an inch and a half.

Thanks!

The bottom photo looks like a "File" to me...you can see the tip for it to be able to slide into a handle.....No Idea of the top photo.....sorry

Im with Max, the bottom is a file I think or it is almost like a box cutter.

The top has me stumped.

the top pic has me stumped too.the bottom pic does look like a file at the end that you would stick into a handle but the "business" end of it looks like it has a taper to it and to me does resemble a knife point.and the more i look at the first pic the more it looks like some sort of latch, but it's upside down.thats just me though.hope it helps some.HH..Bobby
