Default Cache Found!!!

I found my first cache.......

Now for the AMAZING story!!!!!.......the cache was found in my desk drawer! WOW! ....I had forgotten about the pouch of coins I had gotten from my grandmother passing away about 10 years ago. Forgot what I had...and didint really know.

Amazing eh? .....too bad I know almost nothing about coins. Any information about ANY of it would be great!

Looks like you inherited quite a collection. Many of the older coins are quite collectible, therefore worth much more than face value. Everything but the nickel that is pre 1964 is 90% silver. So it is worth at least $10 per ounce. If you intend to sell any of them as collectible coins, do not attempt to clean them. You could go to a book store and get a Red Book Guide to United States Coins to get an idea of their true value. If you don't need the money, I would definitely hang on to them and put them away for safe keeping. Congratulations on your good fortune.

Dress warm - don't think there will be too many on the beach this weekend

I also got some coins from GrandMa, no idea where they are. It wasn't many - perhaps my older siblings have them now

WOW,thats a great find!!! Although we talk about cleaning coins alot on here
(dug coins),those are the type of coins you DO NOT want to clean!Depending on date/mintmark combinations, some of those could be worth real money.Pick up a Redbook, and check 'em out.Even if they are not worth alot of money, there is alot of family history in those coins, which makes them priceless!!!

funny enough i had forgotten all about the collection of foreign (mostly french) coins I had (in the same drawer lol)

included in the old french set are a few oldies I would like some info on if anyone has any idea.

first coin has a bust facing left with the words/letters LUD XV D G FR ET NAV REX around the edge and a V under the bust on the back of coin it has the date 1732 a coat of arms with crown on top and the letters EB underneith with the words/letters BENEDICTUM SIT NOMEN DOMONI around the edge

second coin has a womans bust on front with a star above her head and the word E.A.OUDINE F under the bust. Around the edge is REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE. One the back it reads 5 Francs 1870 inside a wreath with a letter A on the bottom and the words Liberte Egalite Fraternite around the edges.

If anyone has any idea on what these coins are worth or any information about them at all I would appreciate any info given.

Thanks!

There are mintmarks on coins... (if none = Philadelphia).... get a redbook, well worth the cost (about $10).... it will tell you everything you need to know... RickO

I havent updated this thread in a while, its nice to see its somewhat still alive and kickin'

**Update**

I found I had a Key Date Peace Dollar and sold it online for $400.00, I also have a nice chunk of silver Kennedy's and Quarters that I am looking to sell for some extra x-mas money. Too bad the local coin shops are such ripoffs. (they offered me $18 for my key date peace dollar, I told them to F*** off and reported them to the BBB, lol)

I would really like to unload all these coins as I am not a collector and they are just cluttering up my desk. If anyone has any ideas other than EBAY please drop me a message.

There have been some nice antique finds in the house as of late since we have hunkered down and started cleaning before the really cold weather kicks in.
-We have found a Lone Ranger Lunchbox with Rare Blue Stripe. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being rarest it is rated a 9 by collector books and supposedly worth around $900.00. However, there is a seller on ebay that has been trying to unload one for $365 unsuccessfully for the past 4 months or so.
-We have also found a large Tonka Firetruck that is worth about $350 in its condition. Its a pretty cool toy, even has a working long-ladder.
-We are on the lookout for a WWII service pistol that is thought to be in the house somewhere. Father in-law found the clip for the pistol, but no pistol. Hopefully we can find it because I have a feeling it is a M1911 which happens to be my favorite pistol and owning an original one would be amazing.
