Wink FMDF Fundraiser

To help the Admins with the cost of the forum, I have thought of a Fundraiser that would be easy and fun.

What I had in mind was a Silent auction of sorts. If you don't know what a silent auction is, it is were an item up for sale and people just write down bids. There is a certain matter of time that elapses before the auction is over and the highest bid wins.

In order to do this, we will need item donations. Things like Coins, relics, and metal detecting gear would be very appropriate. I will donate some coins.

If you have any items you think would be plausible to put up for auction, please send me a message. If we decide to continue with this Idea, I will need a picture of the Item to put up with the Auction post.

Please voice your opinions, ideas, and concerns.

Thanks a lot!

-Jake

I see no reason why it couldn't work. Like they say "one man's junk is another mans treasure". Would be a good way to get rid of old finds and help the forum at the same time. Will keep an eye out for the first items.

Sounds good to me.

I know I don't have much to give to be auctioned, but I would buy a few coins or some gear.

I like the idea, but I'm concerned with our International members. It wouldn't be fair not to include them in an auction by just having a USA only auction. But mainly, if they do win a bid on a ring or a coin, I don't know what the best way to be able to ship it would be.

With a customs form stating what is in the package, how safe would it be? Everyone and their mother would know what is in the package.

Are these concerns unwarranted? Maybe our International members can add some comments here.

Don't panic, I'm here

I'm not to worried one way or another. Please don't be concerned about leaving me out. Although I would be more than happy to donate something

I must admit that I'm not sure how one of these auctions works anyway

Basically, an item is up for sale and you just write down your bid. There is a certain amount of time for each item; a couple weeks or so. It is kind of like ebay, except you can see what everyone has bidded and who has bidded. It is nothing complicated.

This idea should become reality. Items dont have to coins and such, anything will do. Call it an internet yard/auction sale.
I will gladly step up and post a handful of items for the site!

Hey Beerdoodle and CFMT-PI you did understand this was going to be a silent auction which means anything you donate has to be a silent idem also .

We are not auctioning anything yet. This thread is just to discuss the idea.
