Default Hello to my fellow treasure hunters

Hello All,

I joined the forum back in May, started metal detecting in 1979 when my father bought me a Compass Relic Magnum. I made many great finds with that machine in historic Philadelphia where I grew up. I switched over to a Whites 6000Di in the mid 80's and to a Whites Eagle Spectrum in 1991. That is the machine I currently use, only problem is finding the time. My family and work come first........good news my oldest daughter may have been bitten by the bug. I bought her first machine for her 10th birthday.

I have really enjoyed reading the threads on the forums and seeing the wonderful pictures of the finds.

Dave

Welcome aboard. My granddaughter and I do some waving of the magic wand and we have a good time. I can not get my grandsons interested yet. They have their noses stuck in those darn games.

Welcome to the forum Dave, I know how you feel about finding time.
I spent a lot of money on a new machine this year, and have only used it a few times. What with bad weather and having to do other things, I'm having to re learn how to use it every time I do manage to get out.
The next two weekends I have rallies to go to, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed with the weather.

It'll be a great hobby for you and your daughter to share, I hope you have many happy hours detecting together.

Thanks for the great welcome. I bought my first Whites detector from Harry Bodofsky (Metal Detectors of Delaware) and it was due to him that I joined the First State Treasure Hunters Club as a teenager. Does anyone know if they still meet? He was a real asset to the hobby and is really missed.

What's the easiest way to insert a picture that is just stored on your computer, or do you have to use like photobucket?

Hey Alan,

Where in England was the picture of your avatar taken?

I'm excited for you and your daughter. It could be a great way to spend time together. My youngest is mildly interested, but she's only 6 and her patience lasts about 15 minutes before she's ready to go play dolls.

I know what you mean about that family thing. I'm struggling to balance my obsession with famiy time. I have an obsessive personality though (not clinical, just anecdotal), this too shall pass, and balance will return.
