Default DFX stock coils

Is there any difference between the "DFX" labelled stock coil you see on most DFX machines for sale on ebay, and the "Eclipse 950" stock coil you see for sale on the machine new?

I assume the latter is more modern, but is there a material difference I should be aware of when considering a purchase, or is it just re-branding?

Thanks
Randy

I haven't looked on ebay, but the 950 is a 9.5 inch coil that used to be "standard" on the DFX and MXT. Then, White's added the "300" label and shipped them with a 12" coil instead.

Buying used is a great way to save some money but keep in mind there may not be much of, if any warranty left. Ebay is a great place to get a used detector, but make sure the seller has a good selling reputation.

Howdy Nate, It is nice to meet you, this is John at John's Detectors. I wanted to ask you if you use your Musky for very much beach hunting there? I have the 10" coil on the Musky I use and it is still very sensitive to small coins. I love the high tone. Your sure lucky to have the beach near you. I have never beach hunted myself Nate. Maybe someday I can come over and try it out with you. Ok Nate take care and chat to you later. Blessings to you.

Aluminum wiring?

Seems to me I remember reading that the first DFX coils had an occasional problem with having aluminum wiring, so they changed to the different coil.

Just a note, but I've had 3 DFX's all with the older coil and never had any problems.

I think they are the same but there is a little difference in the shape on the bottom of the coil. By the way, the 9 1/2" coil is an excellent all round coil on the DFX. Fairly light, very good pinpointing, good depth. I have 4 coils and use them all but the 9 1/2" can be used most anywhere.

By waterproof, I mean he says it is sealed better. That is all, call White's.
