Default First Impression...

Hmmm my Ace250 was much easier to understand just kidding. Yes It will take a time to understand all the songs that you hear but that is what makes it special. I had only 15 minutes so far to test it and let me say pinpointing is not a problem. If you follow instruction it is easy.
To be cont'd...

Hi all, I have been out of Metal Detecting for a fair while and was looking at the E Trac and noticed it seems to be rated very highly for salty area`s etc.
How good are detectors these days dealing with salt / beach mud etc etc.
cheers all

I hear pulse induction machines are GREAT for very mineralized ground such as the beach soil. If I am right the E trac is still a VLF machine, but they somehow outperform other VLF detectors in the same soil type, I havent done enough research to know why, maybe someone here can enlighten me.

Default E-Trac

Since not much is said on this forum (I feel alone in Minelab section under E-Trac users sub-forum) try not the best one but more "active" http://www.findmall.com/list.php?63

That seems to be the general opinion Simon. There wouldn't be much to gain by upgrading, or should I say changing ?

The Explorers, Etrac are FBS technology and are different from the VLF machines. They are Pseudo-PI you might say. Many argue that the FBS technology has no advantage over the VLF. I would think one would have to try the Explorer or Etrac himself to know for sure. I always have my SE and now Etrac in the pickup wherever I go. But the biggest factor is knowing the machine you use inside and out! If you feel good about the machine you have and are making finds with it then that is the best situation to be in. HH everyone.

I was leaning toward the E-Trac until I heard such rave reviews about White's customer service.

The reason I was thiniking about the E-Trac over the SE is because I heard the learning curve was shorter, and had been improved (simplified use?) for the E-Trac over the SE. Is this true?

I know some folks think I should grow out of a cheaper machine as I learn, but I've decided I'd rather grow into one over time and not up-grade unless and until there is a HUGE advance in technology.

Which White compares to the SE or the E-Trac, and can it adjust just as well for heavily mineralized soil (or in my case, rock and pliestocene river gravels with some, but not much soil)?

Thanks.

Huck,i cant answer you on the ,which Whites compares to the SE or E-Trac because ive only ever used a Prizm when it comes to Whites, all i can say is that the SE is a outstanding machine and i just cant see how the E-Trac can better it,although ive never used an E-Trac but have done a lot of reading and watching on forums about it and in my view, its about thew same as the SE,,maybe with a few extra bells and whistles on it.Thats just my view and people will more than likely argue my point of view on it but it all comes down to what you feel comfortable using. And i think most well known brand detectors are good in capable hands.

Hey guys, I am reading that the Etrac is opening up old patches and pulling more old silver out of them! The Etrac is a new rig and I like it so far but I still don't have enough time on it. I would have to say the Whites DFX is the closest machine they have to the Etrac. But the TDI by Whites is a PI which has better depth and an assemblence of Discrimination. I have to say though depending where you hunt, the depth is relative. I have been trying out the DFX more than the others and one certainly has much control over this machine. HH all.
