Default First Shield Nickel for me!

My wife's family had a family reunion today... The house where it was held was built in 1853, and I have hunted it before when I first got my DFX... returning much wiser, I got to hunt for about a half hour this afternoon and got my first Shield Nickel... It's an 1867 - no rays... and I was surprised that I could read the date as good as I could... I totally wasn't expecting a shield there... I only found a buffalo there before.

I'm sure there is more stuff there... I kinda use that place as a backup for when I just want to hunt when I need a spot... The ground is so stinking dry here that signals are not very good... digging is aweful, but the DFX nailed this one at 6" and gave a solid solid nickel signal... I was figuring a Buff, but not the shield. There's 154 years of history in that yard, so I know that there is more around.

Great find BC. Pulling that one out of the ground must have had you smiling for some time.

Just a fantastic find Beef! That must have made you dance just a little. It seems to be in great shape. You need to give that place some more time. Thanks for sharing.

Keep Swing'in
