Default Last gasp sidewalk search

On the way home from work yesterday I saw them prepping the courtesy walks by removing sections of grass so I stopped by today. I had some hopes as I was getting hits under the removed soil (about 4'') but turned out to be clad ;-(

I did manage one wheatie along the sidewalk where they removed the boards since the cement was done. I also think I found my first non-coin silver. A trinket that came out nice and clean that was in a dirt pile they had lying on the street. The stamp is worn off but there is a partial oval with a 2 something stamped inside of it. I'm guessing it is a very worn down .925 stamp. It also has some kind of stone in it. I really got to get my camera fixed

Nice hunt'n OZ!

My town would frustrate you. Some homes have sidewalks in fornt of them and some don't. You'll see 1/3 of a block with continuous sidewalk - then no sidewalk - then 3 homes down there's sidewalk again. There are places where the sidewalk doesn't really match-up too well. It's a very strange town.

Nice find.... sidewalks in older towns can be interesting. Many towns have incorporated a 'must install' phrase in building permits - forcing the developer to put the sidewalk in when they are building. Older towns etc. will have mismatches.... and some places (older) with no sidewalks. In the town I will be relocating to, there are many, many streets with bluestone sidewalks, that have been there since the 1800's.... can only dream of what may be beneath them... RickO

The tore up sidewalk about 1.7 miles from me is still tore up... I really need to get down there before I leave and see if there is anything fun in the dirt...

Ricko called it,all new houses in my area must have sidewalks,so I now have a sidewalk leading up to my grass in the front and back yards.
