Default Hello from Iowa

Hello all. My name is Amy, I live in SW Iowa. My mom has had a detector for years, I played with it when I was a teenager. Mom recently found some things close to where I grew up and she wants to do more hunting when I come visit this weekend. So, I decided that I wanted to get a detector too.

Now, don't laugh....I'm starting off with a used Bounty Hunter Pioneer 202. I've been researching my local area to find places to hunt. I've learned a LOT of things about my area that I never knew! Like there used to be a BlueGrass Palace here. An actual entire palace made out of bluegrass in the 1800's....I never knew!! So anyway, I have the plat maps from 1870's of my whole county printed out and I'm ready to go hunting(with permission of course). Still waiting on my MD to get here.

I've been reading lots of posts, trying to soak in all the info. I do have one question right now....what is a TOT lot? tons of trash???

I look forward to learning more and sharing my finds

Welcome to the forum!

A tot-lot is a playground for little kids. They usually have equipment to climb on and slide down. Most have wood chips or sand around the equipment to keep the kids from killing themselves. So it's easy to dig there.
