Default My first hunt...........

So, I got my DFX at the beginning of the week, but didnt have any time to hunt until today. So armed with the DFX and an Excelerator 8" DD coil, I headed to the tot lot a couple of streets over. It consists of a grassy area with a few benches and a tire bordered sand box in the middle. I spent about 90 minutes searching the sand box only.

Some clad, a matchbox car, some type of valve, and im not sure what the other thing is.

A closer up look at the clad. There are 4 100 yen coins and one 10 yen coin. The 100 yens are from 1975, 1992, 2006 and 2006. Not sure about the 10 yen. These are 95% copper so they dont look too good coming out of the ground. But since it has a smooth edge, i know it is post 1959. At today's exchange rates 410 yen comes to about $3.70.

Most importantly, I got to learn about the machine. I was running it with the factory coin/jewelry program mainly with a focus on learning all the beeps and squeaks and the general operation. I definitely know what a soda can sounds like now. And I dug about 10 pull tabs, a couple at about 8 inches. I think the dry (slightly moist below the surface) sand was helping me out with the depth. And I learned that a 30 pound hot rock takes a long time to dig up!!

Congrats ! I'd say you had a very successful first hunt. Dug a few treasures and a whole lot of trash.

In the right hands, you have one of the best detectors on the market. I have heard that the learning curve can be a touch longer than others. Learn, study and practice everything you can and you're bound to dig some fantastic things.

Very true. You have a great machine. Do not let trash get you unmotivated to go out again. I say you did great for your first hunt.

The more you hunt the quicker you will learn your machine. Nice going on the yen!

Default Gas money?

To bad it wasn't a couple us dollars. I would say you had a pretty good first outing. The dfx is one of the best, and is my choice after 20 years of hunting. I am still learning after 2 years with it. I spend more time with my water machine. Both my white's have given me much satisfaction over the years. Each time you get out, you learn a little more about the dfx and it's potential. Good luck with it and keep us posted.....Gil

We are headed to the beach at dawn tomorrow morning.......looking to find some jewelry and maybe some of those 500Y ($4.50) coins.

Nice start!!! I made it to the beach night before last, all I did was clean up trash. my most valuable find was a lead sinker. Need more time working with the beach hunter it was a little hard to work with, need more practice.

I am most of the way through it (the first time), and really it should be mandatory reading for DFX users. I cant imagine how long it would take to master this machine without it.
