Thumbs down Finally got out.

It's been a while since I've even had a chance to think about hunting but I was dying to try this spot in the town I grew up in...used to be a public beach made from a small river they dammed when my mom was a child. thought it had to be a lark!...never saw anyone swing a detector in that town...and I lived there 22 years.
I was dead wrong! No hits at all in the sandy areas, junk up by the barrier wall that seperates the beach from the road, and junk near the water (which is way low as they've taken the dam down for the most part. (found a push pin at 4"s and a pin from a fishing liscense holder at the same depth)

Still searching for an interesting spot.

I'm sure you don't live to far from Killingly or Putnum (sp?) I used to play baseball against those towns, I can remember seeing what appeard to be some good grounds out that way.

Yep...
I grew up in Putnam, now live in the Dayville section of Killingly. Both towns are very old...Killingly just celebrated it's 300th birthday two weeks ago.
The place I wrote about is Recreation Park in Putnam (aka Murphy Park)...
Small world Ehh?

Haha, I know Murphy park... its right at a "T" intersection isn't it? I believe that where we used to play Putnum HS.

I used to live in Groton, North Stonington and Ledyard... so I know the area well.

Welll that sounds more like the ball feild on the corner of Providence St. and School St. (Owen Tarr Feild?)
I went to Putnam High and they played there as well as Murphy park. Murphy Park is adjacent to the National guard armory...also closer to the high school itself.

Groton Ehhh? Ever fish on the Helcat II? (combat fishing at it's finest!)
