I have recently purchased a Tesoro Cortez metal detector. Seems that after a few hours the detector begins acting erratic. Replacing the batteries solves the problem, however, this gets expensive in keeping new batteries all the time. I would like any advice on battery chargers. What type and brand does everyone prefer, if at all. Do the chargers cut off automatically so as not to over charge the batteries and do you have to use only rechargeable batteries, or is it possible to recharge the alkaline batteries? thanks for any replies

Your machine should hunt for far more than a few hours on a new set of alkaline batteries, I have a Minelab machine and the batteries seem to last forever. I have heard great things about the Tesoros too, are you using headphones? They save on batteries.

Batteries are a major expense for metal detecting. You can't recharge alkaline batteries. Our Tesoro Cibola uses 1 9 volt battery and lasts 8 to 10 hours.
Our Whites Pro XL uses 8 AA's and get 8 to 10 hours. So the best thing to do is to go to Home Depot and buy some batteries in bulk. You can get a 30 pack of AA's for $15.00. |
