Default SUCCESS, at last.

Today, I found a 2006 nickle at the street sweeper dump site. wahooo!!

AND, 4 pennies, within a 5 foot circle on my lawn, which, btw, now looks like a gopher colony now, thank you very much.

At this rate, I'll be able to pay for the batteries in this thing by the year 2011. It's not a waste after all.:tumble:

You'll start getting better quickly now; I'll bet within a week you'll have doubled your finds: 2 nickles and eight pennies.

Last weekend I found a bunch of coins in the grass around a refreshment stand at a ball field. There were pull-tabs and bottle-caps in ground too, but I didn't bother digging those. (So I didn't find any nickels or rings.) Just another idea for you to consider.

I always say I'm going to do that, but I think I'm becoming a glutten for punishment.

I had faith in your abilities to find something sooner or later. Jim

Smile SUCCESS, at last.

I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT !!! But I think you may need to pick up the pace a little. I don't think even the best batteries will last that long.

As many of you probably know, I just about turned the discriminator right to the very end, and put the threshhold to the almost off position. Just about the only sounds that are really coming through right now, are the copper coin fields. No doubt, I am losing all the other artifacts, rings etc, but I had to find SOMETHING...or have a starting place someplace.

Tomorrow, I'm going looking for pennies again, and over time, I hope to move myself up to silver and gold. Hopefully, I'll get the sound of pennies stuck in my head before I go onto bigger things.... it's all baby steps for me right now.

But you all have been very helpful with your tips. I read them all over several times each day to get the understanding as to how this tuff work. So, thanks everyone, for your input.

Congrats on your finds.

We all learn in different ways. If your current system is working for you, then stick with it. Once you get comfortable there, you'll bring the discrim down and delve in to the true area of trash and treasure ! Or Tabs and Nickels if you prefer !

Good stuff, haha. But yeah, within a week or so you'll be bringing up your share. If not, well then at least the gophers have to do less work
