Default 1955 Beach Wheat!

We were having an end of the year fun day with the Cubbies for Memorial Day at the beach today. I had planned on taking the CZ20 and doing some water hunting but when I powered it up this morning it didn’t work. I opened it up and I noticed that one of the battery lead cables had come off the terminal again! This is a real problem with my detector. I’ll try to get it fixed again at work on Tuesday. Anyway, decided to take my trusty 3300 and do some of the dry sand. Had a very respectable $5.29 in 3 hours of hunting and a totally unexpected 1955 wheat! (Too bad not double-die!) I was very impressed on the depth I was getting with my 3300 today. It seems to me that it gets much better depth at the beach that in regular dirt. All in all a nice day with beautiful weather!

Nice one Felix.

What is the significance of the wheat on these coins ? Is it supposed to be representative of anything ? (apart from wheat)

As far as the battery lead is concerned, is the joint just breaking or is it corroding ?
I was wondering if you've had a leaking battery ?

Wheat' are just older pennies that are no longer in circlation. I believe the changeover to the current back was in 1959. The battery lead was a weak solder. It was taken care of nicely this last repair and should last for a long time. I siliconed the solders and part of the cable so that it wouldn't move and come off the leads.
