I have the Platinum and found it to be a good all around machine. I havent tried it on sand but on dry land it has done well. I only have had it for about two weeks previously I was using a bh 3300. The response rate is much faster than the 3300. The thing that I have found to be most important is the proper use of the Ground Grab. The machine will false alot if not balanced. Learn that and listen to what the machine is trying to say and I am sure you will like it. Good luck and HH
